Another Great Xmas Find!

So I bought another Xmas gift for Chase. This water table was rated one of the top toys of 2008 and got rave reviews from fellow purchasers on amazon. So if you have a toddler, you may want to think about putting this on the list! I really am hoping he will be walking by christmas so he can enjoy his gifts! But if not, I can always help him stand at his water table so he can splash in it. I can't wait for Xmas! We didn't even get to really celebrate it last year...but this year there is no colic to ruin our holidays!

The Rest of Our Weekend...

I am happy to report the rest of our weekend was lovely. On Saturday, we went out as a family to run a few errands (Deseret Book to pick up a bunch of copies of The Mother in Me -will post about this book later, I have some thoughts to share on it-for some friends and family members, Bed, Bath and Beyond to finally get a good quality humidifier that actually works for Chase, the poor kid has had a disgusting booger nose lately all the time, and a few furniture stores to look for some home decor). And for dinner, ice cream sundaes from Thanksgiving Point. It was a much much more enjoyable evening than watching Cats. Sunday we went to church of course, and hung out as a family all day. I made fried pork chops and Betty Crocker au gratin potatoes for dinner. We also filled out our voter registration forms so we can vote in just a few short weeks. Sunday is my absolute favorite day of the week because it's the one day Jason doesn't have to work. I hate hate hate his work hours but I can't complain too much because it pays the bills quite well. And soon (hoping sooner than later) he will be his own boss and make his own hours.

Our Night on the Town

We had ourselves a babysitter on Friday night (thanks Ty) so Jason and I could finally go on a date. It was wonderful to just be out by ourselves and enjoy one another's company without having to pass a heavy baby back and forth. The best part was being able to eat out with no interruptions. The night started out with reservations at a restaurant called Bambara, in SLC:



I thought the food was incredibly good. We ordered an artisan cheese plate as an appetizer and also had focaccia bread with this amazing cheese flavored humus (you couldn't even tell it was humus). So far, we are both very pleased with the food, even Jason. For our main entrees, I ordered the filet mignon and Jason got halibut. I really liked mine but Jason thought his was just ok and wasn't that impressed. (Now remember, it is very hard to please Jason when it comes to food...he is probably one of the pickiest eaters in the world (def in the top 100). We also ordered desserts. Jason got a white chocolate and lemon flavored frozen mousse with raspberry sauce which was pretty tasty, and I got something that was supposed to be like an apple-cranberry crisp. Dessert was probably my least favorite part of the meal, I would have been happy with another cheese plate or more bread and humus. For the next part of our night, we were headed across the street to see Cats at the Capitol Theatre. This is where the night started to go downhill...

Cats is the worst musical ever. Within the first 5 minutes Jason and I were making strange faces at eachother, wondering what we got ourselves into. We thought there would actually be a storyline (which I think there is a lame story in the second half), and not just a storyline, but a good story, like Phantom of the Opera. The whole first half of the play is singing about each cat. Boring. And neither one of us could even tell what half the words were to the songs. So basically the musical is about a bunch of weird looking cats dancing and singing about nothing. It was not easy to sit through the first half. The second that intermission started, we both were out of there! We got home a little after 9:30. We thought about just going to see a movie but Jason said I probably wouldn't make it through one and he was probably right. I can barely make it past 10 pm ever and am usually in bed by 10:30 at the latest.

I am a little worried about our next date. We are going to a dinner theater. I hope the play isn't lame! From now on, I think we will stick to the typical dinner and a movie! If we see another play, I am going to do my research before buying tickets next time!

Christmas/Birthday Shopping

I am trying to get all my Christmas and birthday shopping for Chase done by early November. I hate getting caught up in a rush trying to figure out what to get for Xmas. And I hate dealing with all the crowds of people also doing their Christmas shopping. I hate the lines, the tantrums kids throw, the fact that everything I want to buy always seems to be out of stock the closer it is to Christmas, etc. etc. I also don't want one huge bill for presents. I am trying to spread out what I buy over time so as not to deplete our bank account in one week. So everyone with a toddler, leave a comment and let me know what toys your child has absolutely loved/can't live without. So far, I have bought Chase this fun bounce house because he loves to jump. I know he will enjoy it-and its the perfect size to fit in his playroom.

9 Months

Chase had his 9 month appointment earlier this week. Here are his stats:

Height: 28 in (50th %)

Weight: 21 lbs 11 oz (75th %)

Head: 45 1/2 cm (50th %)

He is a short, chubby baby and I love it!

Some things Chase is doing at 9 months:

-Waving hello and goodbye
-Crawling
-Blows really big bubbles with his spit
-Plays games with us (like turning our faces towards his when we look away)
-Is finally starting to eat some food (yo baby yogurt is about all I can get in his mouth)
-Throws his toys everywhere. I am afraid of him when he is playing with one of his bigger toys. He's already thrown his toy hammer at my forehead and it did not feel good!

Still Sleeping

Tyler and I went up to Chris and Kallee's place last night to bring them dinner, carrot cake, and of course see the baby. When we got there the lactation specialist was there. Jordan really really loves sleep and prefers to sleep over eating. He hadn't eaten very much at all so they had the specialist come to get advice because Jordan was starting to get a little dehydrated. Of course, he did have an exhausting journey getting here so I don't blame him for just wanting to sleep without being bothered! Chase didn't eat a lot either the first 2-3 days. Anyway, even the specialist couldn't get Jordan up to eat. I am sure when he is hungry enough though he will finally wake up! Again, all our pictures are of him sleeping.

Baby Jordan Christopher

Chris and Kallee (my brother and sister-in-law) finally had their sweet baby boy! Kallee was due on August 29 and was induced Sept. 9th. Jordan finally made his appearance a few minutes after midnight on September 10. He was 7 lbs 14 oz and 20 in. long. He is doing well and Kallee looks great, even if she doesn't think so! She looks way better than I did (and she pushed for 3 hours, twice as long as I did). Jordan was only awake the first few minutes we were there so most of the pictures I got were of him sleeping. Chris and Kallee said he was pretty alert the whole day, but of course decided to finally sleep once Ty and I arrived. We are hoping to go up there again on Friday with some dinner and of course I will get more pictures. For now, enjoy!

Heads Up!

For all my Utah friends, an inmate escaped from the Grand Junction, CO jail and is at large in Utah (or so the police think...they really have no idea where he is). It took 3 hours for the guards to notice he was missing...don't you feel safe? He is considered dangerous (but wouldn't you think the majority, if not all, inmates are dangerous?).

Good thing I am watching the news again.

By the way, I don't think we have to worry too much about it. I am sure he is probably heading south towards Mexico.

Our Weekend

I just wanted to share what we did this weekend. It was Chase's first zoo trip. But before we headed to the zoo, we dropped some things off to Uncle Tyler and took the starving college student to breakfast at Cracker Barrel (we know you're jealous dad!) By the way, he's hardly starving, you should hear how much that kid is eating and enjoying his meal plan. And still as skinny as ever.

The zoo here is quite lame, it's very small and doesn't have many animals. But I thought this was pretty cool-it's a white alligator. There are only 10 white alligators known to exist in the world. Their skin is missing its pigment-it's a genetic mutation. It has very blue eyes, which you can't see in the picture.

The Feuz Fam Visits

The last week of August, my whole family came to visit and drop Tyler (my little brother) off at BYU (Hooray!). It was quite the busy week and I must admit, when they all left I felt pretty lonely and didn't know what to do with myself! I wasn't ready to go back to my old routine of housework and errands. Here is what we did that week:

Sunday-We had Chris and Kallee (brother and sister in law) come down from SL so we could have dinner with the entire family then played games

Monday-We went up to Salt Lake to meet up with my dad's twin brother, Uncle Peter, and some of his kids. We watched the Joseph Smith movie at the memorial building (which was really hard to focus on when you are sitting next to a talkative 21 month old and holding a wiggly 9 month old). Then we went to the Gateway and had Tucano's for lunch. I had to make a stop at Ben's Cookies of course while I was up there so we could enjoy some sweets that evening.

Tuesday-Took advantage of the $2 Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point and went to the Farm/petting zoo. Then we all enjoyed Happy Hour at Sonic. That night we threw a surprise baby shower for Kallee and sweet 16 party for Brittany with the family and also enjoyed the company of Bob (uncle), Trixie (aunt), Doris (aunt) and Natalie (cousin).

Wednesday-Got up early so we could all be ready to drop Ty off at BYU. We got him settled into the dorm then left him to his freshmen orientation. Did some shopping around Provo.

Thursday-We drove up to Salt Lake to meet up with my dad and sisters at the Pioneer Village at This is The Place monument, only to have my dad decide not to go in! So Chase and I drove all the way back home so he could have a normal nap in his crib. He screamed the whole entire way home. I feel lucky I didn't crash my car!

Friday-Went to Swiss days in Midway, ate at one of the top rated Mexican restaurants in the state (Tarahumara) and enjoyed gelato and eclairs from the Zermatt resort. That night we met up with a bunch of our extended family that were also in town for my cousin's wedding and had a barbecue.

Saturday-Drove all the way down to Provo to pick up Ty from the BYU game, then all the way up to Salt Lake for our cousin's wedding reception.

It was a very fun week and I am so glad my little brother is out here for a year before his mission. I finally have a babysitter once a month and already have dates planned for this month and October.

Chase is now saying dad (of course, he doesn't know the meaning yet), dada (pretty much all the time), ma, nana.
