Mother's Day 2011

For Mother's Day Jason woke up super early (for him at least) and made me breakfast. He put together a blackberry yogurt parfait, bacon, sliced apples and stuffed french toast (stuffed with cinnamon apples and cream cheese). I need to get this guy in the kitchen more! We then went to church, came home and while I was upstairs changing Jason and Chase brought in my present. I told Jason not to spend any money. So rather than spend money, he bartered some tools for a bike. There are so many bike trails around here so I've been wanting a bike so we could take some leisurely rides on the weekends. Of course, Jason still needs a bike and we need a bike trailer for the kids. Then I got to skype with my brother on his mission in Brazil. It was so fun to actually see him when I chatted with him and I am so anxious for these last 10 weeks of his to fly by so I can see him in person!

Easter Sunday

The Easter bunny also left a lot of fur around the house. Chase noticed fur by the front door as he was climbing down the stairs. It made him a little nervous though and he wouldn't go down without me. He thought the bunny might still be in our house

Both boys had really bad colds that day so we didn't end up getting dressed in our Sunday best. I was bummed missing church on Easter but sick kids take priority! It was nice just having a lazy day though. We had Grandma Jean over for dinner and watched Tangled and Megamind. And of course ate way too much candy.

Easter Egg Hunt

This picture was supposed to post last. Oh well. We did an Easter egg hunt with some friends at the school in our neighborhood. It was perfect because the area was fenced in so the kids couldn't roam too far and we could keep the kids out until they were all lined up and ready at the same time. Here's Chase with his eggs

Hopefully this is a tradition we can keep up with our friends! I've never been to the ones the towns around us arrange but they just seem chaotic and crazy and not worth all the fuss just so a child can get 2 or 3 eggs.

Budding Little Artist

Chase has started to enjoy finger painting. There are 2 huge obstacles in this picture Chase has overcome-touching wet textures with his hands and wearing his smock. If you know Chase well, then you know his issues with textures! Not just eating them but feeling them too. We've had this smock for probably almost a year and he always refused to wear it, I'm assuming because of the plastic-y feeling of it? He was the same way when getting his hair cut, he would refuse to let the person cutting his hair cover him up for anything! Then he would freak out at the feeling of hair all over his skin. We are definitely making progress with textures!

Spoon Snatcher

Feeding time is becoming a little difficult, not to mention MESSY, since this little guy has grabber hands! He insists on feeding himself and if I don't give in and give him the spoon, he throws a little baby fit. So here he is at 7 months feeding himself. I put the food on the spoon and hand it over to him to get the job done. And as a side note, I just want to thank the heavens above for blessing me with an eater this time! This child will try anything which has made eating time a joy rather than a huge stressful event like it was with Chase.

Brothers

I was just taking some pictures of Jacksen the other day, since sometimes 2 or more weeks will go by where I don't take any pictures of the poor kid, and surprisingly Chase joined in. He's been going through a phase where (1) he hates getting his pictures taken and (2) he refuses to get too close to baby brother for fear of being drooled on. So it made my day that he manned up and sat next to his brother and he didn't cover his face! Love that he's giving the peace sign! Or inadvertently giving it, I doubt he knows the peace sign!

It makes me laugh that Chase has that one little tuft of hair that sticks up and Jack's whole head sticks up. It also makes me laugh that they each have one ear (from Jason) that sticks out way more than their other ear! I promise babe, I'm not making fun of you.

Chase Experiences the Greatest Show on Earth

Back in January we took Chase to the circus for the first time. It was a more ghetto version of Barnum and Bailey called the Jordan World Circus. But still just as entertaining. And our tickets only cost a total of $25 rather than $50 or more. And there weren't assigned seats which I liked. The first half we got to sit pretty close. The second half Chase was getting a little restless and Jacksen was having trouble falling asleep so we moved to an area with a lot less people where I could pace back and forth with Jack and Chase could move around too. There were bears and elephants, elephant and pony rides, and the usual acrobatics. Chase's favorite act? The girls dressed like mermaids doing acrobatics to the Little Mermaid music. Ariel does have a special place in his heart. After all, he did request an Ariel doll for his birthday (which sadly he didn't get).

PeePee Bike

So recently Chase has entered the typical boy stage where he loves using potty language. He thinks it's hilarious to put "peepee" in front of everything. Sorry if this post will offend anyone. But you ask him what book he wants to read before bed, it's always the "peepee" book. What pajamas will it be Chase? I'm sure you can guess his response. Jacksen has become peepee brother, I've become peepee mom and Jason has become, well you probably guessed it already.

Anyway that is where I got my title for this post. The whole point of this post is to FINALLY announce that after 10 months, Chase is fully potty trained. After we moved we basically had to start all over. I told Chase once he used the potty all the time, we would go to Toys "R" Us and he could pick out the bike of his dreams. And the day came about two weeks ago. He went through his first full week in underwear full time completely accident free. So that Saturday we went to get his bike. And his dream bike turned out to be a Buzz Lightyear one. I really had my money on Lightning McQueen.

Just Rolling Around

Yes I'm incredibly behind blogging by about a year and a half. Since my computer had viruses last spring and took forever to fix, half my pictures are now on Jason's netbook and half of them are on this computer. So it makes me feel all out of whack when I want to continue blogging in order. But I do plan this weekend on getting those organized and posting some pics from the last year so everyone can see how our boys have grown! For now, enjoy Jacksen. He loves just rolling around on a blanket. But he's kind of timid about rolling all the way over. He abhors being on his stomach for any amount of time. So he spends a great amount of time on his side.
